Waterville Valley, NH - New Hampshire's popular Waterville Valley ski resort has been sold to a group of investors including members of the state's politically powerful Sununu family, news reports published today indicate.
The New Hampshire Sunday News is reporting in today's print edition that the deal, which transfers the ski area, the Waterville Valley Town Square and the conference center from Booth Creek Ski Holdings to the new owners, was finalized on Friday. Chris Sununu confirmed the transaction to the newspaper.
Sununu indicated that the resort management's new goal would be to attract New Hampshire residents and families and bring world-class events back to the ski resort.
With the sale Booth Creek, which was launched by one-time communications magnate George N. Gillett, Jr. in 1996 and previously operated New Hampshire's Loon Mountain and Cranmore ski areas, has now divested itself of its last Eastern U.S. holding from its dwindling portfolio. The company has also over the years sold its interests in Washington State's Summit-at-Snoqualmie and Grand Targhee Resort in Wyoming. It continues to operate Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resorts in California.Powered by WizardRSS | Full Text RSS Feeds
