Forget the 'chilling vastness' of their homeland ... this Icelandic septet make art-rock with added, er, slapsAs mission statements go, this one from Icelandic septet Who Knew is pretty clear: "Who Knew aren't trying to encapsulate the chilling vastness and serenity of their homeland." So, there are no plaintive strings and no choirs, just energetic art-rock recalling Animal Collective at their most visceral and Wolf Parade at their most playful. This video for the brilliant We Do takes a simple idea (band plays new song in front of bright background) and flips it on its head as band members take turns to, er, slap each other across the face. By the end each member is covered in blood and sweat. Excellent.
