Stratton Observing Columbus Day Weekend at the Summit

Stratton Mountain, VT - Those who make their way to the summit of southern Vermont's highest peak this Columbus Day will discover a full weekend of events from scenic gondola rides and Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-off to the third annual North Face Run to the Summit.












Saturday, Oct. 9s highlights at Stratton Mountain include local chefs and restaurateurs vying for top honors in the cook-off from noon to 4 p.m. while bartenders pour regionally brewed favorites including Long Trail, Otter Creek, Magic Hat, Switchback, Woodchuck Cider, Newcastle, Sam Adams and Harpoon at the base of Stratton Mountain from noon to 7 p.m. Family activities at the Vermont ski and snowboard resort will include Hay rides from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and pumpkin painting in the Courtyard from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Local vendors and free live music will set up in the Village from noon to 7 p.m.

Sundays showcase on Oct. 10 is the North Face Run to the Summit and Family Fun Run. Not only does it test the endurance and physical ability of participants, but the event also raises money for local charities, including The Collaborative. Advance race registration costs $20 online at www.active.com. Race day registration runs $25 and takes place in front of the North Face store in the Village from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The winner-takes-all event begins at 9:45 after the Family Fun Run starts at 9:30.
