New TV Sitcom Set in Aspen

Los Angeles, CA - "A$PEN the Series" is a new situation comedy set in Aspen and coming to U.S. television in 2001. In the series, creator Greg T. Simmons showcases Aspen and the shenanigans of its beautiful people as wealthy spoiled brats loving hard, skiing hard, and having huge bank accounts.

Simmons created the series while a patron of Aspen's HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. The show's storyline centers around Walter, 40, who made his fortune creating energy drinks, then lost it all to Bernie Madoff. His Lear crash lands. He finds seven characters living in his mansion on Aspen's Red Mountain. Walter's super model girlfriend gives him a surprise reality show for his 40th. The eccentrics include a sexy internet niece, a beautiful movie star out of rehab, Ducky the trust fund baby, and hot ski instructors. Tests reportedly proved audiences intrigued and captivated.

Writers for A$PEN are headed by Lawrence H. Levy, WGA Award winning and two-time Emmy nominated Seinfeld writer. The show also features writers who contributed to Kelsey Grammer's "Down Periscope", "Saved by the Bell" and "King of Queens", along with "Who's the Boss", "Facts of Life" and Aaron Spelling's "Seventh Heaven".

Scenes of celebrities playing themselves are in opening credits, including scantily clad Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra, Gisele, Playboy Playmates, Ms. America & Teen USA, Ms. Hooters International and Ms. Hawaiian Tropic as well as Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller. Scenes shot in Aspen include extreme sports at one of the planet's great ski resorts.

"It's not a reality show," explains Simmons. "It's scripted sitcom about creating and living in a reality show in Aspen. Exit polls show fans of Entourage, Sex and the City, and Californication love this show."

The show is currently being shopped to networks, with an anticipated debut date in 2011.Powered by WizardRSS | Full Text RSS Feeds
