EOTC Preview: Team Icelantic

Skiing caught up with Annelise Loevlie, Scotty Vermerris, Kaylin Richardson, Rebecca Selig and Alex Taran to talk about the first all-girls team to enter the Eye of the Condor competition in La Parva, Chile?Team Icelantic.What was the inspiration for the Icelantic team? Annelise: I think it was a chairlift ride in Alta. I was talking to Julian Carr about it. He mentioned it to me last year in the middle of the winter like, ?You should put together an all ladies team.? I thought, ?Great idea.? Scotty: It was interesting because one of the girls on the team had the same idea. She wanted an all girls team to go to EOTC and wanted Icelantic to sponsor it so it?s almost like they were thinking the same thing and it came together perfectly.                                                                                    Skier: Annelise Loevlie Photo: courtesy of Annelise Loevlie This is going to be the first time you?ve skied together as a team. What will that be like?Kaylin: I think it?ll create a really good energy. It?ll be electric. I think if we can convey half the amount of fun we have on the film it?ll be a success. I think if we show 100 percent of the fun it?ll be too much. People aren?t ready for that. Who is the cinematographer? Annelise: Katy-Robin Garton ? She owns a film production company called Sprout Films. She was one of the first people to respond to my inquiry. Within the first conversation I could tell she was it. Just her enthusiasm and her experience with documentaries, action sports, filming and editing. What?s your strategy? Alex: I think a good strategy is working together, utilizing our different strengths, and focusing on the cool culture of Chile. Rebecca: Personally, practicing my listening skills. It?s going to be hard whenever we all have these ideas and wants. It?s too much for the videographer to do what she wants to do. I think I need to listen to help her make her work better. Who would win in a game of Twister? Rebecca: I don?t know, I?ve never played. That?s a good question. Wait, you?ve never played Twister? I think I?m going to have to learn this weekend. I have a feeling Annelise has spent a lot of time playing Twister. She seems like a Twister kind of girl. If you were a ski, what kind of ski would you be? Alex: I would probably be a Rockered Nomad. It?s a super versatile all over the mountain ski and it?s rockered so it can handle crud really well. Alex: I?d like to say that I do handle crud really well but everything?s relevant, right? I?d like to say I?m very adaptable. ---Will these ladies bring their different styles together and show us something the skiing world has never seen before, or will they sink slowly into the madness of all-night Twister marathons?
