Alta to Host Food Drive on New Year?s Eve

Alta, UT ? Did you know that one in seven Utah children is at risk of hunger?

As a Food Drive Coordinator for the Utah Food Bank, Alta Ski Area is inviting guests to participate in a food and fund drive to benefit Utah Food Bank on New Year?s Eve. It?s a great way to make a meaningful difference and get involved in the local community.
Alta Ski Area is holding a canned food drive on New Year's Eve to benefit the Utah Food Bank.
Alta will provide drop-off containers at both its Wildcat and Albion base areas all day on December 31. Staffers are encouraging skiers to bring cans of food during the resort?s New Year?s Eve Torchlight Parade celebration as well.
You can also donate online. The Utah Food Bank can take a $1 donation and turn it into $7-worth of food and services. This is possible because of volunteer support and generous food donations. Utah Food Bank is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, so all contributions are tax deductible. Head online to www.utahfoodbank.org/virtual-food?Team=2046 to donate through the team ?Alta Skiers.?
Alta?s New Year?s Eve Torchlight Parade gets underway at 6 p.m. on December 31, with skiers and Alta employees loading the lift at 5 p.m. Skiers should bring their own headlamp or flashlight as Alta officials are experimenting with new torches this year and many skiers will get to use them, but not everyone. Skiers need to be intermediate level or stronger, and a fireworks display will accompany the parade down the slopes.
