2010 Ski Film Premieres

It's that time of year again. Starting this weekend, ski film companies will start releasing this season's flicks. Here are the ones we're most psyched to see. This year, we're amped on everything from low-budget local rippers shredding urban jibs to international big guns slaying pow on the South Pole. Get ready to get psyched.Level One?Eye TripSeptember 10th 8PM Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom- Denver, COEye Trip WebsiteAfter a tranquil opening with shots of ice caves and snow gusts, the viewer is shuttled around four countries, and placed front seat for extreme urban and remote backcountry. No rail is too hard and no face is too steep in this departure from the average ski movie. From colossal gaps to a tennis court net grind, Eye Trip takes you away. The techno/hip-hop soundtrack will get your adrenaline pumping as you watch athletes like Parker White, Chris Logan, Josh Bibby, and Duncan Adams.  Poor Boyz Productions?Revolver September 11th, 7PM King Cat Theater- Seattle, WA Revolver WebsiteRevolver showcases the highs and lows of skiing. This memorial to CR Johnson and Eric Simard shows big mountain and urban from Simon Dumont, Dane Tudor, Tim Durtschi and others as they flirt with the boundary between extreme and insane. First-person shots of backcountry descents show a perspective few get to experience in real life. Fearless stunts over vast, untouched, powder and across any surface in the city make this film one that?s likely to capture attention when the feature premieres. Matchstick Productions? The Way I See It September 18th, 7PMBoulder Theater- Boulder, CO The Way I See It WebsiteMatchstick lights it up by combining world-class freestyle skiing with a taste of the sport?s classic playful side. Majestic shots of remote peaks set up an exciting new perspective for the 2010 film. 18 athletes, including Sean Pettit and Colby West are shown joking around between shots of extraordinary big mountain lines and dizzying spins. ?This is hands down the best two hours of my life,? says Bobby Brown, mid-trailer. With such exciting footage, we should expect an impressive experience from the full-length film. Teton Gravity Research?Light the Wick September 18th, 7PM Walk Festive Hall- Teton Village, WY Light The Wick WebsiteA groundbreaking move in ski film cinematography, TGR employed 3D, in addition to HD and film, cameras in their newest work. Traveling across Alaska, Croatia, and Italy, the crew and athletes kept the mentality ?of trying something new and breaking out of that box.? An all-star athlete list, including Sammy Carlson and Rachel Burks are filmed launching over broad crevasses, descending from seemingly unreachable peaks and cruising down untouched, near-vertical, faces. Light the Wick sets a new standard for ski films with this most recent feature.  Warren Miller?Wintervention October 19th, 7:30PM Xengo Grand Theater at SCERA, Orem UT Wintervention WebsiteIn typical Warren Miller fashion, host Jonny Moseley and crew have traveled to the ends of the earth to feed their snow-addiction. For the newest film, the crew sailed from Argentina to Antarctica in pursuit of the finest, untouched, powder. Expect to see Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsay Vonn, Chris Davenport, JJ Thomas, and Hugo Harrison chasing their fix through waist-deep powder and tight trees in Warren Miller?s 61st film. Field Productions-?Side by Side September 16th, 8 PMInternational Freeski Film Festival; Montreal, Canada http://blog.fieldproductions.com/Side-By-Side-official-teaserA balanced array of big mountain, park, and urban featured in this trailer hints at a unique ski film style from this Norway-based crew. The trailer opens with truck-driver 720?s at sunrise in Norway that lead to midday tree runs in British Columbia before an Alaskan avalanche chases skiers like Jon Olsson home for the day. Urban rail jams and stalls shot from overhead give a sneak peak of the varied cinematic and athletic talent in this film by 22-year old producer Filip Christensen. A Few More Films You Won?t Want To Miss4 bi 9?Gunnie Season DVD Release-October, 2010 Gunnie Season Website Chaoz Productions? All InPremiere- September 11thOslo, Norway All In Website Meathead Productions?Work It Out DVD Release- October,1stWork It Out Website
